How this site fits together.

sttp #

Secure thought transfer protocol. Opinions may be eventually consistent.

The name of the site was a joke between Shashwat (a colleague and friend) and me long-ago and has no practical significance apart from a long running reference. The content on the site has changed multiple times and this name has carried along till now.

  • shards are sharp and rough pieces of thinking which is generally not refined. They are mostly how I think in that moment. They are also a pun on the process of “sharding” a database and shows a partition of my brain.
  • builds are code riffs and experiments that keep evolving. Some of them age with time and others just disappear into the side-project-graveyard. Some also have a few thoughts and notes linked to them.
  • wal is the write-ahead log: short notes before a longer account takes shape.
  • catalog interleaves them in one timeline, including this page.

Code and content are licensed separately.

  • Code is under the MIT license: the site’s templates, styles, and scripts, and the code snippets inside posts.
  • Content is under CC BY 4.0: the writing, the sketches, and my own images. Share or adapt it for any purpose, as long as you credit Harman (hrmnjt), link to the original page, and say if you changed it.

Logos, screenshots of other people’s software, and quoted material stay with their owners.
